9 healthcare organizations adding jobs

The following healthcare organizations shared plans to add jobs so far in October.

1. North Las Vegas freestanding ER to create 35 jobs
MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas will break ground Tuesday on an 11,000-square-foot freestanding emergency room, according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal. The project is expected to create roughly 35 jobs.

2. Parkview Health aims to add 850 employees
Parkview Health, a Fort Wayne, Ind.-based nonprofit, community-based health system, will host a job fair next month as it seeks to hire 850 employees, according to the News-Sentinel.

4. UnitedHealth to add 500 jobs in Kansas, with 150 heading to OptumRx
Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealth Group will hire 500 employees in Kansas, according to a KCUR 89.3 report.

5. NYC Health + Hospitals to ramp up staffing after securing $360M in DSH payments
Stanley Brezenoff, interim president and CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals, said the administration will fill 50 percent of the monthly vacancies that occur when staff members leave the healthcare system, up from 25 percent.

6. Highmark Health, Allegheny Health Network to invest $1B in new hospital, renovations
Highmark Health and Allegheny Health Network, both based in Pittsburgh, will spend more than $1 billion to construct new facilities and renovate existing medical buildings over the next four to five years. The expansions are expected to create more than 800 new jobs.

7. Apple to build $1B data center in Ireland
An Irish court will allow Apple to build a $1 billion (€850 million) data center in the country, officials ruled Thursday, reports Reuters. Apple's data center will provide nearly 300 construction jobs and 150 on-site, permanent positions.

8. Tacoma Behavioral Health Hospital to create 300 hospital jobs
A new $45 million hospital in Tacoma, Wash., is expected to create more than 40 construction jobs and 300 hospital jobs.

9. CHI Franciscan, MultiCare joint venture breaks ground on $45M behavioral health hospital
CHI Franciscan Health and MultiCare Health System, both located in Tacoma, Wash., began construction on the $45 million Tacoma (Wash.) Behavioral Health Hospital Sept. 29. The project is expected to create 300 hospital jobs and 40-plus construction jobs, officials said.
