The nurses are represented by Communications Workers of America Local 1133.
“Both the hospital’s and the union’s negotiation team worked hard to come up with a contract package that meets the needs of our hospital and our nursing staff,” Jim Millard, president and CEO of Kenmore Mercy, told WKBW. “As vital members of our healthcare team, we believe this offer recognizes the important role our nurses play in providing our patients with high quality, compassionate care.”
The union also was pleased.
“We believe this package offers competitive wages and improvements in work conditions, which will help recruit and retain nurses who deliver the highest quality care,” Deborah Arnet, RN, president of CWA 1133, said, according to WKBW.
The new contract is set to expire in June 2020. A ratification vote on the tentative deal is set for next week, according to the news station.
