The agreement, which averts a strike planned for Nov. 11, covers about 400 certified nursing assistants, housekeepers, transportation workers and others at Mount Sinai and Schwab Rehabilitation hospitals.
Officials said the SEIU Healthcare Illinois and Sinai Health System reached a contract that addresses wages, staffing, health coverage and working conditions.
Once ratified, the agreement will raise the starting base wage for many of Sinai Health System’s SEIU-represented workers to $15 an hour. Officials said the agreement also lowers health insurance costs and improves staffing levels.
