The hospital is raising its minimum wage from $7.58 per hour to $9 per hour, a move affecting about 500 employees. Additionally, the hospital’s 1,000 nurses will receive a pay bump of 50 cents an hour, according to the report.
The wage increases are expected to reduce turnover in entry-level positions at the hospital. The move also ties into the hospital’s Catholic roots. “As a Catholic employer with more than 4,000 important staff members to consider, the dignity of every employee is very important to us,” Michael Rindler, St. Anthony’s CEO, told the Business Journal. “Every one of our employees is a valuable resource to the St. Anthony’s community and deserves the dignity of a living wage.”
