These are devastating injuries, and in many cases, has ruined the family’s lives and has devastated the doctors and nurses involved. When I examined these claims closely, patterns and trends naturally emerged. Developing these trends into usable prevention and risk management techniques that can actually be used by the front line is a challenge. The need to react to lessons learned in real-time is paramount to making any impact. A commitment and investment in continuous education, communication and documentation are essential to prevent an injury from recurrence.
