Nomad Health nurse staffing tool takes cue from online dating sites

Nomad Health, a New York City-based digital staffing startup, on Tuesday launched an online tool to connect freelance nurses to healthcare organizations looking for new hires, reports The Dallas Morning News.

The tool works similarly to an online dating website. Nurses make profiles and fill out a list of criteria, including skill set, availability and state preferences. The tool links nurses to relevant healthcare providers based on how well their criteria matches up. The platform also conducts background checks, offers malpractice insurances and aids in tax compliance and payroll issues, according to the report.

Nomad Health launched a similar tool last year for physicians, which is available in 14 states. The nurse staffing tool is only available in Texas right now, although Nomad Health plans to expand both platforms to every state by 2018.
