The 40,000-square-foot, $21.7 million expansion project includes adding 30 inpatient beds on the sixth floor of NCH, hospital officials told Becker’s via email, noting the extra beds will allow more cardiac, neonatal intensive care and critical care patients to receive care.

Hospital expansion plans also include adding a cardiac operating room on the sixth floor.

“Building the cardiac operating room, cath lab and inpatient rooms on the same floor offers a seamless and safer transition for Nemours Cardiac Center patients,” hospital officials added.

Project construction is expected to take 18 to 24 months.
