Liberty Hospital in Missouri Axes 129 Positions

Liberty (Mo.) Hospital is eliminating 129 staff positions and making other cuts to reduce its expenses by $20 million, according to a Kansas City Star report.

In addition to the layoffs, the hospital is closing its wound clinic and will stop the hospital-funded patient transportation program, according to the report. The hospital cited reduced Medicare payments as the reason for the cuts.

Liberty Hospital employs more than 1,900 people, according to the hospital.
