Alaska had the highest hourly mean wage for certified registered nurse anesthetists in the U.S., and West Virginia had the highest hourly mean wage for CRNAs after adjusted for cost of living.
Below are the mean hourly and annual wages for nurse anesthetists in 44 states, according to BLS data updated May 15. Becker’s calculated mean hourly wages, adjusted for individual state cost of living, using 2025 cost of living index data from the World Population Review.
This list excludes CRNA data from Colorado, Indiana and Rhode Island due to an ‘estimate not released’ error on the BLS website, and Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii and Nevada due to unavailable data in the BLS export.
“Individual occupational employment and wage estimates may be withheld from publication for a number of reasons, including failure to meet BLS quality standards or the need to protect the confidentiality of our survey respondents,” a spokesperson for BLS said in a statement shared with Becker’s. “In general, if either an employment or a wage estimate (but not both) is available for an occupation, the occupation will appear in the data with the unpublished estimate footnote 8 ‘estimate not released.’ If neither an employment nor a wage estimate could be published, the occupation will not be shown in the data. Unpublished OEWS estimates cannot be made available to the public.”
