Members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association have reached a tentative labor contract with Baystate Health covering nurses at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, Mass.
“We have reached a tentative agreement and look forward to the bargaining unit members having the opportunity to take a ratification vote in the coming weeks,” Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
The agreement was reached Sept. 28, as nurses were preparing to issue notice for a 14-day strike, according to a union news release.
According to the union, the three-year agreement includes:
- A 6.2% raise in the first year and 13% over the life of the contract
- Additional staffing in both the emergency department and the mental health unit
- Updated staffing language for medical-surgical units
- Contractual protections on health insurance
- Added compensation for on-call surgical services nurses
Nurses have been negotiating with Baystate Health since September 2025. They voted 98.2% in April to authorize a potential strike and 98% in June to reject the system’s best and final offer, according to the release.
A ratification vote is expected in the coming days.
