Mercy’s revenue management division recently consolidated its hospital and physician clinic business office functions, which led to the layoffs, according to the report. Most of the eliminated positions were based in Springfield, Mo., St. Louis and Oklahoma City.

Some of the workers whose positions have been cut are being placed in open positions within the health system. Employees who are not placed in another Mercy-based position will receive severance.
