5 hospital strike updates

Here are five updates on hospital strikes or planned strikes reported by Becker’s Hospital Review in November.

1. About 2,200 nurses at University of Chicago Medical Center in Hyde Park scheduled a second strike for Nov. 26, two days before Thanksgiving.

2. About 500 employees at Redwood Memorial Hospital in Fortuna, Calif., and St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka, Calif., will walk off the job Nov. 20.

3. University of California service and patient care technical workers began striking Nov. 13 over the alleged illegal outsourcing of jobs.

4. About 4,000 psychologists, mental health therapists and other medical professionals at Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente postponed a five-day strike after the death of Kaiser Chairman and CEO Bernard J. Tyson.

5. Chicago-based Sinai Health System reached an agreement with the union representing hundreds of its workers, averting a strike planned for Nov. 11.
