Members of Teamsters Local 760 have ended a nearly two-month strike at MultiCare Yakima (Wash.) Memorial Hospital.
The union, which represents about 170 technical employees at the facility — including workers in surgery, radiology, MRI, pharmacy and laboratory departments — began striking Jan. 17. Dave Simmons, a business representative for Teamsters Local 760, told Becker’s the strike ended March 15.
“We will be negotiating with the hospital [on March 17],” he said. “Our intent is to continue negotiations until we are able to secure an agreement.”
Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare, the hospital’s parent organization, operates 13 hospitals and employs about 20,000 workers. The system has been negotiating with the union since February 2025.
“MultiCare continues to bargain with the Teamsters on a contract,” the health system said in a statement shared with Becker’s. “The next session with a federal mediator is scheduled for March 17. Our priorities and strategy for bargaining have remained unchanged throughout this strike.”
MultiCare added that it is implementing a transition plan to reintegrate striking employees, whose positions have not been permanently replaced, back into the hospital.
Union security, retirement and health coverage remain key issues in negotiations, Mr. Simmons previously told the Yakima Herald-Republic.
