WKU still searching for partner after sports medicine complex deadline passes

Bowling Green-based Western Kentucky University officials said they were unable to find a single organization to lease the campus health clinic, provide orthopedic services for student athletes and to construct a sports medicine complex on campus, according to WBKO-ABC 13 News.

WKU opened the bidding process up to interested parties in September. WKU had originally negotiated a contract with Bowling Green, Ky.-based The Medical Center to build the complex, but was forced to rescind the deal after Western Kentucky Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Associates, also in Bowling Green, filed a protest alleging the deal was conducted illegally.

The bidding process ended Nov. 15.

University officials said WKU has an agreement in place allowing the Bowling Green-based Graves Gilbert Clinic to run the on-campus clinic through Dec. 16. Officials said the Medical Clinic will continue to provide orthopedic care to WKU athletes for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year, according to the article.
