Under the deal, Virtua Health will acquire Camden, N.J.-based Lourdes Health System, which comprises two hospitals, a physician practice and a cardiology service provider.

Virtua officials said the acquisition will help expand the health system’s footprint and increase patients’ access to care.

The health systems, which have been in talks on a potential agreement since March, have yet to obtain regulatory approval for the proposed deal.
