Under the agreement, the institutions will work together to form new clinical programs and collaborate on various clinical research, education, training and wellness initiatives. The organizations will remain separate entities.
The financial terms of the agreement, if any, were not disclosed.
“VUMC and UMMC share the common goal of improving the health of the populations we serve through outstanding patient care, biomedical research and teaching. As the leading academic medical centers in our respective adjoining states, we also face many of the same or similar opportunities and challenges in today’s changing healthcare landscape,” UMMC Associate Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs Charles O’Mara, MD, said, according to the Nashville Business Journal. “This collaboration just makes good sense, and we’re excited and honored to be affiliating with such highly respected colleagues at Vanderbilt.”
