Madison, Wis.-based UW Health completed its acquisition of Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam (Wis.) from Marshfield (Wis.) Clinic Health System, part of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health, on Nov. 1.
The campus is now UW Health Beaver Dam Hospital and Clinics, according to a Nov. 2 news release shared with Becker’s. About 350 employees joined UW Health as part of the transition.
The integrated campus includes a hospital, a skilled nursing facility and independent senior living apartments, according to the release. It also operates two assisted living facilities and primary care clinics in Columbus, Horicon and Waupun, Wis.
UW Health Chief Strategy Officer Carey Gehl said patients should see little change in the first few months beyond new signage. Scheduled appointments, accepted insurance and billing processes remain the same for now. Patients will keep using the My Marshfield Clinic portal until UW Health moves them to UW Health MyChart in March 2027.
Home health and hospice services will shift to UW Health Care Direct. Hospital, clinic, pharmacy, nursing home, assisted living, memory care and senior apartment services continue as planned.
UW Health will integrate the campus in phases, aligning clinical systems, expanding connections to its specialists and programs, and recruiting staff to support long-term access to care in the region, according to the release.
The deal is part of UW Health’s broader effort to strengthen access to care in rural and community settings across Wisconsin, Ms. Gehl said.
