UPMC and Susquehanna Health strike partnership

Susquehanna Health of Williamsport, Pa., and Pittsburgh-based UPMC have signed a letter of intent to pursue an affiliation agreement.

Susquehanna is a four-hospital integrated health system in northern Pennsylvania comprised of Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport, Muncy (Pa.) Valley Hospital, Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro and Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Susquehanna Health board of directors chairwoman Ann Pepperman said the board had been looking for a healthcare partner that would compliment Susquehanna’s faith-based, service-oriented culture and had a proven track record of investing in community health services.

Both organizations have begun the due diligence process to work toward a definitive affiliation agreement.
