EMH, which has three primary acute-care hospital campuses, would fall under the UH umbrella, and EMH Elyria Medical Center would become UH’s flagship hospital in Lorain County. If approved, UH would have 13 hospitals and more than 20,000 employees within its system.

UH and EMH executives will now conduct due diligence, which is expected to last several months. Both parties expect a deal will be hammered out by the end of this year. Financial details were not disclosed.
