West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health has signed a letter of intent to acquire Sioux City, Iowa-based MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center.
The deal includes all of Siouxland Medical Center’s facilities, including the hospital, physician practices and home care services, according to a May 29 UnityPoint news release shared with Becker’s.
“UnityPoint and MercyOne have a shared goal to do what’s best for the Sioux City community,” Bob Ritz, CEO of Des Moines, Iowa-based MercyOne, said in the release. “We strongly believe the best way to maintain access to care in Sioux City, to become sustainable long-term, and to ensure a smooth transition for patients and employees is for UnityPoint Health to acquire MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center.”
The acquisition is expected to be completed this summer, pending closing conditions.
