The strategic partnership will expand UnityPoint’s service area and give Meriter access to greater efficiencies, according to a news release. Additionally, the two healthcare organizations can further develop a value-based method of care delivery by combining operations.
Under the agreement, UnityPoint will also take an ownership interest in Meriter’s HMO, Physicians Plus Insurance.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The next step will be preparing the necessary filings with the appropriate regulatory agencies to move forward with the affiliation. Mertier and UnityPoint have not yet specified when they expect to sign a definitive agreement.
