Farmington, Conn.-based UConn Health plans to seek state approval to integrate Bristol (Conn.) Hospital and Putnam, Conn.-based Day Kimball Hospital into the UConn Health Community Network, according to a public notice.
Following the required public notice period, UConn Health Community Network said it expects to submit a certificate-of-need application to the Connecticut Department of Public Health. If approved, Bristol Hospital and Day Kimball Hospital would join UConn Health Waterbury Hospital in the network while continuing to provide care in their current communities through their existing providers and staff.
“The proposed integration would build on our commitment to supporting community hospitals while preserving the local care, providers and services that patients rely on every day,” UConn Health said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
The proposed expansion follows UConn Health’s March acquisition of Waterbury (Conn.) Hospital from bankrupt Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings, which established the UConn Health Community Network. In April, UConn Health signed a letter of intent with Bristol Health and Day Kimball Health to join the network.
