The school launched its search in February, and the request for proposals came with a March 8 deadline. On Monday, University of Louisville President Neeli Bendapudi, PhD, said the proposals submitted in that time did not produce a suitable partnership.
“Several potential partners told us they simply needed more time to review the opportunity and present a strong proposal,” she said in a letter to the university community, as reported by the Courier Journal.
Jewish Hospital has been up for sale since 2017.
Dr. Bendapudi said KentuckyOne parent CommonSpirit Health has agreed to extend an academic-affiliation agreement, which allows medical professionals who work for University of Louisville to perform certain services at Jewish Hospital and KentuckyOne’s Frazier Rehab Institute. This 90-day extension will buy University of Louisville more time to search for a partner.
