Tri-City, UC San Diego affiliate

UC San Diego Health and Oceanside, Calif.-based Tri-City Healthcare District entered a long-term, strategic affiliation to sustainably improve the quality of care they provide.

Under the agreement, Tri-City Healthcare District — a 397-bed acute-care hospital with a primary care clinic — will continue to operate as a district medical center, but function as the northern San Diego hub for UC San Diego Health Care Network.

Tri-City patients will have access to certain local UC San Diego specialists, such as those in neurosurgery and psychiatry, and if needed they will have access to tertiary and quaternary services at UC San Diego Health.

The two entities plan to jointly recruit physicians, develop customized clinical programs and integrate IT and care pathways. They will also work together to increase the number of insurance plans that name Tri-City as an authorized provider.
