Berlin, Md.-based Atlantic General Hospital signed a definitive agreement to merge with Salisbury, Md.-based TidalHealth.

Atlantic General and TidalHealth will follow a structured integration plan to ensure a smooth transition, according to a May 1 TidalHealth news release. No immediate changes in staffing are anticipated. For the immediate future, all Atlantic General entities will keep the Atlantic General brand.

The merger will provide Atlantic General access to an integrated EHR through Epic and enhance service coordination and care access, according to the release. It will also provide Atlantic General capital funding to expand services and efforts to strengthen the hospital’s retention and recruitment efforts.

Atlantic General began looking for a partner in early 2024, according to the release. In December it signed a letter of intent to combine with TidalHealth.
