Under terms of the agreement, Richland Memorial will rebrand as Carle Richland Memorial Hospital. The hospital will maintain its own local board and administrators.
The organizations had previously maintained a clinical affiliation agreement since 2014.
Carle Richland is the second hospital to integrate into the health system. Carle Hoopeston (Ill.) Regional Health Center joined the organization in 2012.
“We’re thrilled to come together with Richland Memorial Hospital because the organization shares Carle’s core beliefs that quality care and strong operational practices are necessary to achieve the level of care that patients deserve,” said James Leonard, MD, president and CEO of The Carle Foundation. “We can only address the needs of people in this region by working together so that patients can get the care they need closer to home.”
