The two institutions signed a letter of intent to merge Jan. 18.

Ms. Stalnaker said the proposed merger would create two potential capital improvement projects in Weston. The hospital recently annexed part of its property near the interstate and plans to relocate its facility, creating an opportunity for local businesses to take over its current building. Ms. Stalnaker also said the merger will help recruit physicians to the area.

The two entities will begin planning the terms of the potential transaction within the next couple of months and hope to close the deal by the end of 2017, according to the article.
