St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to open affiliate clinic in Oklahoma

The Children's Hospital at St. Francis in Tulsa, Okla., will house the nation's eighth affiliate clinic of Memphis, Tenn.-based St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, according to a Tulsa World report.

The affiliate clinic is slated to open in July under a partnership between St. Jude and St. Francis. Through the partnership, physicians at St. Francis will now have access to St. Jude's research and resources, according to the report.

"This is not an in-name-only affiliation. It is not a marketing agreement so we can put a marquee that might suggest more than it produces," Jake Henry Jr., president and CEO of Saint Francis Health System, sold the Tulsa World. "Indeed, our clinic is now an extension of the world leader in pediatric cancer research and treatment right here in Tulsa, in northeastern Oklahoma."

Just like at the St. Jude hospital in Memphis, families of patients at the Tulsa affiliate clinic will never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment or related travel, housing or food, according to the report

St. Jude also has affiliate clinics in Springfield, Mo.; Shreveport, La.; Baton Rouge, La.; Peoria, Ill.; Huntsville, Ala.; Johnson City, Tenn.; and Charlotte, N.C.
