Rapid City (S.D.) Medical Center signed a letter of intent Jan. 30 to join Monument Health, a Rapid City-based community health system.
The parties plan to sign definitive agreements under the LOI and close the transaction this spring, according to a Jan. 30 news release shared with Becker’s.
Rapid City Medical Center and Monument Health will operate independently throughout the transition, with clinic locations, insurance participation, patient care and providers unchanged.
“In conjunction with the deal, while many Rapid City Medical Center physicians will join Monument Health, other physicians will continue to serve the community by remaining independent or joining other practices,” the release said.
Monument Health comprises five hospitals, 40 medical clinics, with more than 5,600 physicians and caregivers who serve 14 western South Dakota and eastern Wyoming communities. It is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
