New York City-based Redesign Health and ARC Global, the innovation platform founded at Sheba Medical Center in Israel, plan to merge to create a broader health system-focused innovation platform.

The combined organization will work with health systems to develop, deploy and commercialize technology created alongside clinicians and operators, according to an Oct. 22 news release.

The companies also plan to acquire AVIA, a digital transformation firm that works with U.S. health systems. The acquisition is subject to final approvals.

Together, Redesign Health, ARC Global and AVIA work with more than 100 health systems across five continents. Companies and products developed through their networks have reached more than 100 million patients, according to the news release.

The combined organization plans to embed technologists, product leaders and AI researchers within health systems to work alongside clinical teams, IT departments and internal developers. The goal is to help health systems identify operational and clinical challenges, build solutions around their own workflows and scale successful products across participating institutions.

Stephen Klasko, MD, former CEO of Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health, will serve as chairman of the board. Eyal Zimlichman, MD, founder and president of ARC Global, will join Redesign Health as vice chairman. Brett Shaheen will remain CEO of Redesign Health and lead the combined organization.

ARC Global was founded in 2019 at Sheba Medical Center and has expanded to 31 health systems and more than 300 hospitals across 12 countries. Its model focuses on clinician-led innovation, technology partnerships and developing healthcare startups.

ARC Sheba will remain the flagship site for the network.

Redesign Health said it will continue investing in and building healthcare companies through its venture capital and buyout strategies. The organizations said founding health system partners for the combined platform will be announced in the coming months.
