The lack of a ballot measure implies that the 20-year lease held by Irvine, Calif.-based St. Joseph’s Health, the current hospital operator, will expire in January 2017 without a successor, according to the report.
While St. Joseph appears to be the front-runner to continue operating the hospital, negotiations between St. Joseph and the healthcare district have stalled, according to the report.
The next opportunity for a ballot measure will be in March 2017. If the parties don’t come to a decision, district officials said St. Joseph will operate the hospital under an extended short-term contract, according to the report.
