A bankruptcy court judge ruled Sept. 5 that a group of six health systems in the Philadelphia area can buy Hahnemann University Hospital's residency program for $55 million, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. 

Now that site neutrality is on everyone’s mind, Avanza is regularly called upon by hospitals and health systems to assist in converting provider-based entities, i.e., hospital outpatient department (HOPD), to freestanding, and often joint-ventured, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs).

KPC Global, a Santa Ana, Calif.-based hospital operator, submitted a last-minute filing Aug. 29 to participate in a bankruptcy hearing that could determine the fate of Philadelphia-based Hahnemann University Hospital's residency program, according to Philadelphia Business Journal.
