Pennsylvania’s Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital Merger Receives Final Approval

Pennsylvania’s Department of Health and Attorney General have issued final approval on the merger between Shamokin Area Community Hospital in Coal Township, Pa., and Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa., according to a Geisinger news release.

Effective Jan. 2012, the Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital will be a campus of GMC, the release said. SACH employees will also become a part of the Geisinger Health System.
