Oconee Regional officials look to sell hospital

The financially struggling Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville, Ga., will be sold, reports The Union-Recorder.

The hospital will remain open, but sometime in the near future, ORMC officials plan to announce the facility's new ownership, according to the article.

"The fact that we're going to continue to be a hospital in this community and to serve outlining counties is what is really the most important thing to me and many others at this hospital right now," Steven Johnson, who currently serves as interim CEO of ORMC, told The Union-Recorder.

Mr. Johnson, along with other hospital board members, have been in talks with more than one perspective buyer, according to the report. ORMC would not at this time reveal the names of the interested parties.

However, Mr. Johnson told The Union-Recorder an announcement of who ORMC's new partner is going to be could come before Christmas, although he expects it to happen sometime early in 2017.
