Both organizations expect to sign a formal letter of intent by March and a definitive agreement by June, pending due diligence.

Oconee CEO Jeanne Ward told The Greenville News the hospital has been searching for a partner for the past five years and chose GHS because of their “long history of working together to improve quality, service and access to care.”

In 2012, Oconee posted a total profit of $2.4 million on $124.7 million of revenue. If finalized, Oconee would become the seventh hospital within GHS. This past summer, GHS completed an affiliation deal with Laurens County Health Care System in Clinton, S.C.
