“It’s about taking our specialized services out into the state,” Steve Hester, MD, senior vice president and chief clinical and strategy officer at Norton Healthcare, told the publication. “We appreciate the relationships we already have with providers in Bowling Green. Now we want to look at what things we can bring that aren’t already there.”

BGIMP currently has nine providers listed on its website, all of which Dr. Hester expects to stay onboard with potential full-time or-part time specialist enhancements.

“We’re looking to bring those specialized services to the community,” Dr. Hester told the publication. “Some [specialists] will be full-time and some will be rotating.”

Any expansions or added personnel to BGIMP’s facility will depend on demand, Dr. Hester said.

A nonprofit health system, Norton Healthcare comprises five Louisville-based hospitals; three hospitals in Southern Indiana; one hospital under construction in West Louisville, Ky., which is expected to open in late 2024; and multiple care centers, clinics and programs. It has more than 20,000 employees, including over 1,750 employed medical providers and more than 3,000 total providers, according to its website
