The systems offering the bids included: Greenville, N.C.-based University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina; Brentwood, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems; Plano, Texas-based LHP Hospital Group; and Brentwood, Tenn.-based Brim Healthcare.

University Health Systems and CHS offered lease agreements, while Brim Healthcare offered an alternative proposal that included a management services arrangement. LHP offered two proposals — a lease agreement and an alternative arrangement that included a joint venture between LHP and BRHS.

The board will now consider the proposals and plans to seek public comment before making a decision. The board had planned to make a decision by Dec. 1, but now says it will likely be unable to decide before that date.
