Mount Carmel, Acadia partner on $26M behavioral health hospital

Columbus-based Mount Carmel Health System and Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare embarked on a joint venture July 24 to develop a $26 million, 80-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital in Columbus, according to ThisWeek Community News.

The hospital will replace the current 20-bed inpatient psychiatric unit at nearby Mount Carmel West in Columbus. Construction on the facility will begin later this year and the hospital will reportedly open in fall 2018.

The hospital will be comprised of three permanent units and one flex unit, which will provide services based on recommendations from the community. The facility will also include an activity therapy center and gym, an outpatient therapy center, an electroconvulsive therapy center and outdoor activity yards.
