The hospital has not made specific post-merger plans for the space that currently houses the south campus ED.
Hospital CEO Ray Humphreys said there will be no layoffs from the consolidation, which may begin as early as the end of the summer.
The hospital has already combined its obstetrics departments. These mergers are designed to increase cost efficiency and improve quality.
