Recent projections estimate the health system will run out of cash by the end of July.
Public Health Trust executives also outlined plans to reduce a nearly $80 million loss for the year. The proposal included cutting indigent care by $20 million, finding $16.5 million in operational efficiencies and asking the University of Miami to accept $6.5 million less in payments the health system makes to the University’s physicians, according to the report.
Last year, Jackson received an $80 million cash advance on sales and property taxes designated for the health system.
The cash advance requested would be similar to one last year, when Jackson received an advance of $80 million on sales and property taxes designated for Jackson.
