The two organizations signed a letter of intent last month to explore the transaction, in which Dean’s 500 physicians, more than 60 clinics and its subsidiaries — including a joint venture, 300,000-person health plan with SSM and a telemedicine firm — would become fully owned by SSM, which owns seven hospitals in central and southern Wisconsin and others across the Midwest.
Financial details were not disclosed. The organizations announced they expected the deal to close by late summer this year, pending regulatory approval.
