The new agreement will expand Lahey and St. Joseph’s relationship through clinical service line development, allowing physicians from St. Joseph and Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington to work together to provide comprehensive, integrated and high-quality care, according to a news release. Lahey Hospital & Medical Center will serve as St. Joseph’s preferred medical center for patients who need tertiary and quaternary specialty or subspecialty services that cannot be provided locally. Furthermore, the hospitals will share resources for clinical leadership, education and program development for service lines such as cancer treatment.

“Lahey Health is committed to working with respected community providers to enhance the care already being provided so that patients can receive safe, high-quality care and stay close to their families and their homes,” Howard Grant, JD, MD, president and CEO of Lahey, said in the release. “We’re delighted to announce this enhanced relationship with St. Joseph Healthcare so that we can further achieve these goals as well as lower costs and improve the overall patient experience for so many in the region.”
