One of the owners of Oak Park, Ill.-based West Suburban Medical Center and Chicago-based Weiss Memorial Hospital has asked a judge to enforce a settlement that would sell the hospitals to Flint, Mich.-based Insight Health Systems for $1, the Chicago Tribune reported Aug. 3.
The motion was filed Aug. 1 in Cook County Circuit Court by Ramco Healthcare Holdings, which owns the hospitals’ real estate, according to the report. The motion was filed after an attorney for Resilience Healthcare, which operates the hospitals, said in court that Resilience was unwilling to move forward with the proposal.
Resilience is 60% owned by Manoj Prasad, MD, who is CEO of the company, and 40% owned by Reddy Patlola, who also owns Ramco Healthcare, according to the report. The two business partners sued each other after West Suburban closed in March. Weiss closed in 2025.
The motion asks the judge to either enforce the settlement terms the hospitals’ owners agreed to in principle in May but never finalized, or appoint a receiver to take control of the hospitals, according to the report.
Under the draft terms, Dr. Prasad would stay on as CEO until Insight finalizes a binding agreement, then step down and work as a paid consultant for up to six months at $100,000. He would also keep title to a 2022 Range Rover Sport, and Resilience would waive its right to recover nearly $2.2 million that Westlaw Management Group transferred to ME&B Consulting between late 2025 and early 2026.
Insight already runs Insight Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, the former Mercy Hospital, which it also acquired for $1 in 2021.
West Suburban and Weiss owe the state more than $104 million in unpaid advance payments and hospital assessment taxes, according to the report.
