Oklahoma City-based Integris Health has signed a definitive agreement to become part of Risant Health, pending regulatory approvals.
Five things to know:
1. The agreement would make Integris Health the third health system to join Risant Health, alongside Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger and Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health, according to an Oct. 21 joint news release. Pending approval, Risant will become Integris’ corporate parent.
2. Risant Health is a nonprofit organization created to expand access to value-based care. It was formed by Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente and launched in April 2023.
3. Joining Risant would provide Integris with additional resources and investments in its hospitals, clinics, technology and clinical capabilities, Integris CEO Timothy Pehrson said in a video announcement. He said the system could not make those investments independently at the same scale or pace.
4. Integris will retain its name, brand, medical staff and leadership team. It will also continue working with other health plans, provider organizations and independent physicians. The system operates 10 acute and 10 specialty hospitals, along with physician clinics and urgent care facilities, and has 13,000 employees.
5. Risant’s existing organizations have reported operational improvements. Geisinger Community Medical Center reported an approximately 60% reduction in admission process time, while Cone Health clinicians spent almost 14% less time on clinical notes per patient encounter. Geisinger has also realized nearly 1% of operating margin improvement through its affiliation with Risant Health.
