Illinois’ Loyola University Health Considers Merger

Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola University Health System, parent of Loyola University Medical Center, is considering a possible merger with another health system, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

Sources close to the health system leaked the information to the Tribune. In response, Loyola issued a statement to the paper saying, “In light of the changing healthcare environment and the passage of healthcare reform, it is logical for healthcare providers to consider new approaches to meet the challenges of a reformed system.”

Loyola University Medical Center is one of five academic medical centers in the Chicago area.
