The purchase comes as Steward, which sought Chapter 11 protection May 6, has been offloading its 31 hospitals.
Here are six things to know:
1. The Steward Arizona inpatient facilities purchased by HonorHealth are Florence Hospital, Mesa-based Mountain Vista Medical Center, Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, the Mesa Emergency Center and multiple outpatient physician practices.
2. As of Oct. 3, the inpatient facilities have been renamed to HonorHealth Mountain Vista Medical Center, HonorHealth Tempe Medical Center, HonorHealth Florence Medical Center, and HonorHealth Emergency Center.
3. The acquisition brings on 1,200 new team members to HonorHealth, according to an Oct. 4 HonorHealth LinkedIn post.
4. HonorHealth was named interim manager of the facilities by Mr. Lopez on Sept. 11.
5. A nonprofit health system, HonorHealth now comprises nine hospitals in Arizona. Prior to the acquisition, the health system operated six hospitals in the state, according to its website.
6. A spokesperson for HonorHealth told Becker’s that the health system is not disclosing the purchase price for the Steward assets.
