The $1.08 million included a settlement package of more than a year’s salary. According to public disclosure documents filed with Mass. Attorney General Martha Coakley, Mr. Laverty’s “golden parachute” could have included up to two full years of salary, as required by Northeast’s executive contracts.
Mr. Laverty experienced a series of controversies in 2008, beginning with the protested resignation of the physician and nurse practitioner at Gloucester High School health clinic after the hospital prohibited the distribution of contraceptives.
Interim CEO Henry Ramini was paid $432,000 for leading the hospital system through the rest of fiscal year 2009, according to the report.
