Fremont Health selects Nebraska Methodist to continue partnership discussions

Fremont (Neb.) Health will pursue partnership with Nebraska Methodist Health System, a three-hospital system in Omaha, the Fremont Tribune reports.

The Fremont Health board of trustees reportedly voted Monday evening to select Nebraska Methodist as its potential affiliate. The move comes after the board told senior leadership last December to explore potential affiliation opportunities with three health systems. Among those under consideration were Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine, Nebraska Methodist and Brentwood, Tenn.-based RCCH HealthCare Partners.

"This is a key milestone in this process and we are pleased to share this exciting news with our physicians, employees, and the community," Fremont Health President and CEO Patrick Booth said. "At the same time, a great deal of work lies ahead for both Fremont Health and Nebraska Methodist Health System."

Fremont began its search for a partner last July. Once the agreement is complete, the deal will require approval by Fremont Health's board of trustees, along with the Dodge County (Neb.) board of supervisors.
