Bert Fish announced its plans to merge with Adventist, parent to Florida Hospital in Orlando, earlier this month. Halifax Health then challenged the planned takeover, offering to match Adventist’s $71 million pledge to the ailing hospital.
Halifax Health also offered lower taxes for Bert Fish, but it wasn’t enough to change the decision of board members, according to the report.
