Community Health Network and Eskenazi Health, both based in Indianapolis, have decided not to work toward a partnership, according to a report from The Indianapolis Star.

The two health systems entered into a partnership agreement in February 2013 with approval from the Health & Hospital Corp. of Marion County and entered a due diligence period to assess their resources and further collaborations.

However, although the two organizations still plan to collaborate in lesser ways, they announced yesterday that they have mutually decided the resolution of tax and bond issues necessary to form a partnership would outweigh the advantages of the arrangement. The Eskenazi Health Foundation reported federal tax laws and bond structure regulations were the biggest challenge that would stand in the way of a partnership, according to the report.
